Schedule

Advisory is a part of each learner’s daily schedule. Advisors complete regular academic checks and facilitate goal setting, reflection, and community building. Advisors encourage direct communication with families to keep lines of communication open in support of student learning. Learners who are part of a student leadership team have an advisory with staff leaders. This allows advisors to support student leaders academically — as in other advisory classes — and offer a consistent time to develop leadership skills during the regular school day.

Flex time offerings empower students by affording structured opportunities in the school day for them to access learning pathways that support their learning. Giving learners the choice in how they use that time develops agency and positively impacts learner motivation and engagement. Learners are encouraged to sign up for Flex sessions that meet their needs as a learner including:

• Supports (re-teach, review material of current unit)
• Extensions (additional application of content, further practice of coursework)
• Enrichments (expanding upon learning on a deeper level through analysis, evaluation, creation)

STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, Math) is an optional inquiry-based project driven by learners’ curiosity, interests, and passions. Learners use daily Flex time to sign up for a STREAM option. As learners navigate through the different steps of the STREAM learning process, they will have access to mentors for extra guidance. Mentors include: the Library Media Specialist, the Gifted and Talented Coordinator, and community members. STREAM encourages creative, innovative, and inquisitive thinking. The experience will challenge a learner to take ownership of his or her learning.
